Special Educational Needs (SEN) Team
Special Educational Needs (SEN) Team
The Special Educational Needs Co-ordination (SEN) Service is responsible for co-ordinating the process for arranging specialist provision for children and young people 0 to 25 with special educational needs. The team will work with families where a request for assessment is made, which may lead to an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
The team is made up of a range of roles, including:
- SEN Casework Manager - this role oversees the team and supports the case workers with more complex cases
- SEN Caseworker - when a request for assessment is made, a caseworker will be allocated; this caseworker will coordinate the arrangement of the 20-week process from assessment to potentially an EHCP development. They will support families with identifying and arranging specialist provision for your child where needed
- Plan Writers -nthe plan writers will work behind the scenes to write EHCPs and make amendments if needed after annual reviews; the Plan Writers are not front-facing roles
- SEN Professional Support Officer
Once you have an allocated case worker, you can contact them when you need. However, prior to this, you can contact the team for the following:
- making a request for assessment
- queries about the process
